With Her Smile

© Charles E. Corry 1993

Kathleen, with her lovely face,

Who scented the night,

And made me regret the light

With her smoke-wreathed smile.

Kathleen, with her enchanted touch,

When she wanted to be held,

And we seemed to meld.

Afterward, she'd smile and smile.

Kathleen, with her warm embrace,

Who entered my life with no warning,

Then was gone on a winter morning.

And took with her her dimpled smile.

Kathleen, with her secret smile,

She passed too swiftly through my life,

And now is someone else's wife

But, I fear, she's lost her smile.
